Jacob Martin died Sept. 8, 1911, at the home of his son C. J. Martin at Speed, Kansas. Jacob Martin was born in Noble count, Ohio, July 7, 1842, being at the time of his death 69 years, 2 months and 1 day old. He was married to Sarah J.
Clark of Columbus, Ind., in 1865 who died Feb. 20, 1910. Two children are left to mourn their loss, C. J. Martin of Speed, Kans., and Mrs. Alice Newman of Ottumwa, Iowa, also three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Porter of Wisconsin, Mrs.
Eliza Hocking of Bloomfield and Mrs. James Payne of Lamar, Colo. Two brothers and two sisters, his wife and two daughters and his father and mother preceded him to the better land. He united with the Christian church in the year 1861 and remained a faithful member.
