Ottumwa tri-weekly courier, March 30, 1911 Clara J. McClure was born in Davis County, Iowa, February 14, 1861 and died March 7th, 1911, age 50 years and 21 days. She was married to J. N. Pickens Nov. 10, 1886. Two children were born to this union, one daughter and one son.
The daughter died at the age of two and one-half years. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, her son Reo and her aged father Wm. McClure of Bloomfield. Four brothers, Emmanuel of Washington Obe, of Floris: J. T., of California and William, Jr., of Eldon. Four sisters, Mrs. W. H. Hancock, of Bloomfield Mrs. H. C. Black of Bloomfield, Mrs. Walter Ritz of Milton and Mrs.
Henry Barker of northern Iowa. She grew to womanhood near where she was born and was a successful school teacher before her marriage. She united with the Christian church at the age of 14 and was ever a devoted Christian worker until her death. The funeral service was conducted by D. W. Hastings at the Mt. Gilead church, March 8th and a large concourse of people were present to witness the respect in which she was held. The interment was at the Mt. Gilead cemetery.—
