Ottumwa tri-weekly courier, March 30, 1911 Isaac Francis Brooks was born Feb. 3, 1848 at Athens County, Ohio and died at his home 4 miles north of Floris Sunday March 12, 1911, age 63 years, 1 month and 9 days. He was married in 1869 to Miss Hester Evans in Meggs county, Ohio and came to Iowa the following year, making Iowa their home. To this union was born six children, four of whom preceded their father in death, two dying in infancy and Martha, age 17, died in 1890 and Lutisha, age 30, died in 1906.
Two children, Mrs. Ella Holcomb of Leando and Oliver who lives at home survive the father, with the mother, two sisters and one brother, Joel Brooks of Batavia and Mrs. John Bacus of Troy and Mrs. Rosetta Wisenberger of Batavia.
Mr. Brooks was converted in the First Baptist church in the year of 1875 and has lived a faithful worker for his Master during this time. He was a devoted friends to both young and old and always had a smile for everybody. His funeral was conducted at the home by Rev. McNair and assisted by Rev. Dunning both of near here. He was laid to rest in the Syhawk cemetery north of Laddsdale. His many friends will miss him and ever remember his kind words and smiling face to all who knew him.
