Samuel Lasley departed this life December 16, 1910 at the home of his son Frank Lasley six miles northwest of Batavia. He was born in the state of Ohio, March 5. 1835. He moved to the state of Iowa when he was about fifteen years old and was married in the year, 1856. To this union was born eleven children, six boys and five girls, the boys are Ely, Simon, Andy, Jacob and Isaac, and the girls are Betty, Mary, Polly and Sarah. He has twenty-five great grandchildren, twenty-two of whom are still living. He was a member of the Free Methodist church. He was taken back, to his old home neighborhood and buried at the Hidybough [Hidebaugh] cemetery. The funeral was preached by Rev. John A.
Brown of Batavia.
