December 3, 1977Lydia Creel Dies At 85
Services for Lydia Creel, 85, retired school teacher, were scheduled at 2 p.m. today at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
The Rev. Eldon Haworth was in charge of the service with burial in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Lydia Creel died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield where she had been a patient for some time.
Miss Creel taught school for a number of years and had made her home in Fairfield for the past 30 years. Prior to that had lived in Davis County.
A life membership was presented to Miss Creel by the Iowa State Education Association after her retirement. She served as a grade school teacher at Birmingham for 32 years.
She previously taught at Drakesville, Cantril and in a rural school near Bloomfield.
Lydia Creel was born Oct. 25, 1892, at West Point in Lee County. She was the daughter of Webster and Flora Taylor Creel.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Maude Creel, Ottumwa, and a number of cousins.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Heart Fund.
