Former County Employee Dies
William H. Brady, 81, Served As Jail Turnkey, Courthouse Custodian.
William Henry Brady, 81, of 418 E. Finley Ave., died Saturday at 7:30 PM in the Ottumwa hospital. A resident of the vicinity most of his life, Mr. Brady had been a Wapello County courthouse custodian and Ottumwa Iron Works employee prior to the jail position. He was born in Bloomfield, October 29, 1856, later moving to Agency and then to Ottumwa. He was a member of the Olive Branch Lodge No. 21, A. F. and A. M. of Agency; Clinton chapter, No. 9, R. A. M.; Ottumwa Council No. 31, R. and S. M. And Malta commandery No. 31, K. T.
Surviving is a granddaughter, Mrs. Marjorie Van Winkle of Ottumwa. His wife, Eva, preceded him in death in 1916. Mrs. Ruth Greeley, a daughter, died in 1937. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM at the Church of the Brethren of which he was a member, conducted by the Rev. C. A. Albin. Masonic services will be held at the grave in the Ottumwa cemetery. The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home.
