Mrs. Cora M. Stroud
Mrs. Cora May Stroud, 60, wife of W. L. Stroud, died at her home, 2026 Bertha St., today at 1 AM. She was the daughter of William and Martha Matherly and was born in Davis County, January 30, 1877. She had lived in Ottumwa for the last 39 years. Surviving are her husband, Willis L.; two daughters, Mrs. Olive Johnson and Mrs. Lena Monahon, both of Ottumwa; her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
William Matherly of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Happie Lattimore of Des Moines; and Mrs. Minnie Bim of Oregon; two brothers, Robert Matherly of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Claude Matherly of Omaha, Nebraska, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the home of Mrs. Stroud’s daughter, Mrs. Olive Johnson, 1731 Mabel St., Thursday at 3:30 PM, conducted by the Rev. A. D. McClure. Burial will be made in the Shaul cemetery. The body was taken to the Johnson home at 5 PM today.
