John Eakins, Drakesville Dies In City
John R. Eakins, 81, of Drakesville route 1, died at the St. Joseph’s hospital at 12:15 AM today. He was the son of John and Nancy Eakins and was born in Ohio, January 5, 1855. He lived in Wapello and Davis County for the last 68 years. Surviving are his wife, Ellen; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Orman and Mrs. Ollie Shepherd of near Ormanville and Mrs. Adah Reeves of Huron, South Dakota; six sons, Fred, Rile, Charles, Ira, Roy and Harry of near Ormanville; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Orman of Blakesburg route 1; two brothers, George and David of Ottumwa, 36 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 PM at the home and at 2:30 PM in the Ormanville church conducted by the Rev. A.
D. McClure. Burial be made in the Ormanville cemetery. The body will be taken to the Drakesville home and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
