Whitmore Rites Set

Nancy E. Whitmore, 88, died at Good Samaritan Home in Ottumwa at 1 p.m. Monday.

She was born May 8, 1889 in Davis County, the daughter of Leander and Victoria Hendricks McCleary. She spent most of her life in Jefferson County. She was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church in Batavia.

On April 29, 1911, she married William Whitmore. He preceded her in death in 1975. Seven sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one foster son, R.L. Webb of Ottumwa.

Services will be Wednesday, 3:30 p.m., at Gospel Lighthouse Church with the Rev. Kermit Black and the Rev. Clarence DeBoef officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to the Gospel Lighthouse Church.
