Benny C. Wardlow

Bennett "Benny" Columbus Wardlow, 59, of Larchwood, Iowa and formerly of Bloomfield died at 9:35 a.m. Jan. 29, 1988, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was born May 22, 1928, in Davis County to William Paul and Abigail Goode Wardlow.

A laborer and a Korean War U.S. Army veteran, he lived in Davis County until 1968, when he moved to Larchwood. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bloomfield, the Riflemen's Club and American Legion Flessner Post __1 in Larchwood. He married Mary Gandy before marrying Ruth Hargrove Aug. 15, 1958, in Bloomfield.

Surviviors are his wife of Larchwood; three daughters, Patty Brindza of Cedar Hill, Mo., and Judy Berreth and Janice Wardlow of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two stepsons, Master Chief Petty Officer Jack Shaddy of the U.S. Navy and Jim Shaddy of Larchwood; one stepdaughter, Jeanne Zukowski of Lake Peeskill, N.Y.; three brothers, Wray of Bloomfield, Lee of Burbanks, S.D., and Billy of Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Bernadine Fountain of Rowena, S.D., Ina Amoto of Cleveland and Betty Martz of Bloomfield; three-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

A son, Joseph, preceded him in death in 1960.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 1988 at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, the Rev. Jim Bartels officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery at Bloomfield. Graveside military rites was conducted by American Legion Reed-Whisler Post 78 of Bloomfield.
