My brother-in-law lives in the house that was owned by some Beasley's in Dallas County, Iowa, west of Adel, Iowa about 6 miles. The house was built around the civil war era and is really cool. The walls are 3 bricks thick. Strong enough to withstand a tornado that came through in the early 70's without too much damage. They have been doing major renovating lately, putting in all new windows, geothermo heating and cooling, and all the exterior brickwork fixed. Interior also being patched and painted. I've been helping with some of the work. His wife's parents bought the house around 1952 after Ida Beasley passed away. She is said to still reside there. I think her husband was W. Beasley, maybe William? I was at the cemetery several years ago and did see their stone. It is huge. They must have been very prominant citizens in the area in their day.
Can you tell me anything about this family? I think I had found Ida's obituary and gave it to my brother-in-law at one time. I was told that this house had a resident ghost named "Aunt Idie" and when I found out that the previous owner's name was "Ida" the hair about stood on the back of my neck and I said "That's her!" I don't think anybody has ever seen her but they say things tend to get moved around. I don't know what to think but you never know! We speak kindly of her there!
