Help with adoption/indentured child from 1880/90

I am trying to find out any information I can on my husband's Great Grandmother. She was born May 12, 1880 in Dallas County, Iowa. We have her name as Sophia "Fannie" McGinnis, but I believe it might just be Fannie. McGinnis is the name of her adopted family. Her biological parents are possible Father - last name of Jherns/Gherns and Mother - Bixler/Pixler. She was adopted to the McGinnis family when she was about 8 or 9 years old. We would like to find any information we can on her biological family. We believe she had a biological sister by the name of Pearl. She married Thomas Burt McDonald in 1899. Any help would be much appreciated.
