Hi!
By using Ancestry.com or Heritage Quest, if you look at the 1880 Federal Census search for Dana Prior, he shows up, 12 yrs old, as living with his parents and Great Grandparents in Bear Grove Twp., Guthrie Co, IA. His father Erastus L. Prior is County Recorder. Searching by Erastus Prior, he is found also in the 1860 census as living in Guthrie Co.

Dana and Laura with daughter Ruth are living in Great Fall, Cascade Co. MT in the 1900 census, noted as married 10 years with 3 children who are all still living.
