I am looking for info on William H. Swain. He was a resident of Redfield, Dallas County in the early 1860's.
He enlisted in the Union Army as a Private on 8 August, 1862. He enlisted in Company H, 39th Infantry Regiment on 25 August, 1862. He was captured by the Confederats on 7 July, 1863 at Corinth, Miss.
I am looking for William H. Swains date of death, place and burial location if possible.
According to a family document in my possession, written in 1900, it was believed he starved to death as a POW.
Any info will be most appreciated.

Respectfully,
Loring J. Swain, Jr.
