In Response To: Kimrey Families in Sugar Grove Twp. (Nora (Kimrey) Hindle)

The Minburn Centennial History Book (1869-1969) contains the following details about individuals with the surname KIMREY :

Pg. 17: History of Christian Church (now Church of Christ): During a four weeks' meeting approximately 50 persons placed their membership with the church. On October 7, 1897, the church was organized with Brother Harrington as the pastor. They purchased a lot and started to raise funds to build a church. The church was built just west of the present property, with most of the work being done by members. After the church was built, there was no bell, so Mrs. William KIMREY, better known as Jennie, and Mrs. J.J. Osbourne, with horse and buggy solicited the countryside for funds with which to purchase the beautifully toned bell - the bell which still hangs in the belfry and has called the faithful to worship for the past 70 years.
Pg. 23: First School in Sugar Grove Township: The records have been searched and we find after careful investigation that the first school house was built during the year 1854, and known as the Fremont School House. The last surviving scholars who attended this school were Susan Bell KIMREY, Erlaine Bray Landis, Louisa Cartwright Campbell, and Mary Cartwright Temple.
Pg. 43: Photo of KIMREY Family: This picture taken in 1892 is of William and Jennie KIMREY, and their children Roy (Tim) and May (Norris)
Page 53: KIMREY Cemetery: KIMREY Cemetery is as old as any cemetery in Dallas County. The origin of this little cemetery is the same as occasional others which are found scattered across our land. A family was traveling westward in search of a place to call home and they found it necessary to stop because of illness - and the short sad story is told. "Several of their children died of typhoid."
Mr. John KIMREY gave a piece of ground from his homestead so that the family could bury their children. Their graves have long since become lost as there was no stone available for headstones. This little cemetery of a little over two acres has headstones dating from 1850 onwards. It is located on a beautiful high knoll two miles southwest of Minburn overlooking the Raccoon River.
A small headstone with the name of "Jennie" is in memory of Jenny Mitchell, infant daughter of Jacob Mitchell, who died in 1872. This small stone could well be in remembrance of the many children who died in infancy and whose graves are not marked with a stone. The ancient pine tree has nearly swallowed this small headstone.

As an added note, there was also a business called KIMREY Electric in Minburn which was operated by Delbert Kimrey. However, that was a long time ago (30+ years) and I don't know if there are still Kimreys in Minburn.
