Connie, you might want to try borrowing newspaper microfilm through interlibrary loan from the State Historical Society's Library. Go to http://www.iowahistory.org/library/library_offers/microfilm_loan_purchase.html to get the info to give to your library for the loan.

I would guess that an obituary for an Adel resident would have been in the Dallas County Record, Dallas Center edition, and/or the Des Moines Register. However, there aren't a lot of nursing homes or care facilities in the area, and so if a person was in an Adel care facility and so died there, the obituary would more likely be in the "home town" paper.
