Roger F. Bannick

Roger Frederick Bannick, 81, son of Francis Detlen & Agnes Caroline (McCurdy) Bannick, was born January 25th 1939 in Boone, IA at the Boone Hospital. He passed away Saturday Oct 31, 2020 at Azria Health Center in Winterset, IA.

Roger attended school in Linden and graduated 9th grade from DeSoto School. He then began working with his father to help support the family doing various construction jobs such as building corn cribs and barns, he also worked at a gas station.

He married Evelyn Kay Spencer on February 27, 1957 in Waukee. They had 5 children and later divorced after 27 years. When their children were young, he worked on the gas rigs in Colorado and Wyoming. He also worked for Northern Natural Gas in Redfield. However, he owned a residential construction company and the majority of his years were spent working on construction projects in Iowa.

Roger enjoyed western music and movies, watching WWF and Road Runner cartoons. He loved to travel, play cards and bowl. Although he was not opposed to a drink or two in his earlier years he gave that up later in life. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing his family as well as the nurses at both the hospital and the care facility prior to his death. He loved dogs and in his later years loved spending time with Gidget and then Gemma.
