Page 5, Column 5Amanda C. Purdun was born in Ohio, Jan. 24, 1832 and died Feb. 13, 1910. She was married to John M. Purdun, June 10, 1849. To this union were born 8 children, five boys and three girls, of whom five have preceded the mother. Those living are John H. of Waterloo; Charles F., of Muscatine and Mrs. W. R. Fort of Patterson, with whom she had made her home for 17 years. Though an invalid, lying in bed 41 years, she was always cheerful and looked on the bright side of life.
She with her husband united with the Christian church in 1869 and through all these years of her suffering and confinement, she has retained her faith in the Lord.
The funeral services were held at the Fort home in Patterson Monday morning at 8 o’clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. G. E. Nichols. Interment was made at the Dexter cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest beside her companion, who died in 1882.
