Adair County Boy Dead

Everett Lamb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Price Lamb of Adair county, was drowned on May 29th at Camp Lewis, Wash. Mr. Lamb was a corporal in the regular army there, and was noted as the best swimmer in the camp. He and another fellow had rowed across the lake and were coming back when the boat capsized. They clung to the boat for some time and then started to swim to shore. Everett was seized with cramps and his companion’s efforts to save him were futile. When he was rescued from the water he was still alive and had only been in the water twenty-five minutes, but they could not revive him.

A military funeral was conducted for him on Monday afternoon, June 9th, with a firing squad from Winterset. He was buried in the Dexter cemetery.
