Mrs. Lorena Yoders Barr was born Oct. 8, 1893, near Lucas, Lucas county, Iowa, and died at her home south of Stuart, March 16, 1913, being at the time of her death, 19 years, 5 months and 8 days old. Her father departed this life Jan. 19, 1901. Her mother died two years later on Jan.1, 1903, leaving four children to the care of an aunt, Miss Elmyra Benge, who has been as a mother to them since her death. Lorena was one of seven children, three of whom died in infancy.

On Jan. 22, 1913, she was united in marriage to Earl Barr of Stuart. After three weeks of happiness, she became ill and after an illness of four and a half weeks, she passed away, leaving to mourn her loss, her husband, Earl Barr of Stuart and Mrs. Lillian Potter of Patterson, Fred E. and Harry F. Yoders of Des Moines, and her aunt, Miss Elmyra Benge of Winterset, besides hosts of friends. She was laid to rest in the Dexter cemetery near Dexter.
