Kittie Belle Lee, wife of Adolph Kauffman was born July 18, 1890, in Dallas County, Iowa, and died of heart failure Jan. 8, 1915, at the age of 24 years, 5 months and 22 days. The greater part of her life was spent in the community of and near DeSoto. On January 21, 1914 she was united in marriage to Adolph Kauffman of Dexter, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman then made their home on a farm south of Stuart, Iowa until last fall when they moved to the home of her mother near DeSoto. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. H. Schmidt of Dexter, was held at 10:30 in the Christian church at DeSoto, and at 1:30 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran church at Dexter. At both places the number of sympathizing friends was large. Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.

Beside her husband, she leaves to mourn her sudden death her mother, Mrs. Hooper, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Beeson of DeSoto, Mrs. Georgia Bales of Sac City, Mrs. Gretchen Bond of Guthrie Center, 3 brothers, Sam Lee of Belle Plaine, Jess Lee of Williamsburg and Earl Lee of DeSto. Also an aged grandmother, living at Cumberland, Iowa. Three sisters of Mrs. Hooper, Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Mathis and Mrs. Lane and a cousin, Mrs. Thompson, all of Cumberland were present at the funeral.
