Lawrence Edward Marsh, the son of John Marsh and Minnie, nee Winkelman, was born in Adair County, Iowa, Aug. 7, 1892. He was baptized there in the Lutheran Church. At the age of ten he moved with his parents to a farm south of Dexter. He was confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church on April 12, 1906. He graduated from the Dexter schools in 1912.

On September 10, 1914 he was married to Carrie Blohm. They were the parents to three children, one of whom, John, died in 1930. Mrs. Marsh passed away in 1957. He was married to Mrs. Doris Kalbach on December 25, 1958.

Mr. Marsh was for many years engaged in farming and the sale of real estate. He also served as mayor of the city of Dexter.

Mr. Marsh departed this life on Nov. 12 at the age of 71. He is survived by his widow, Doris; one daughter, Mrs. Lila McMenamin, one son, James; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles; and five sisters, Mrs. Clara Willrich, Mrs. Anna Schafer, Mrs. Lillian Christian, Mrs. Ruth Smith, and Mrs. Lena Heacock; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, Nov. 15, with Pastor Norman M. Luecht in charge. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetry.

The honorary bearers were: W. N. Curry, James Leighty, Ed Delaney, Hobart Newton, Walter Clausen, and Lloyd Kunkle. The casket bearers were Donald Kunkle, Frederick Clausen, Marlin Piatt, George Marsh, Howard Marsh and Robert Marsh.
