Thomas William Lee, the son of Alfred C. and Clara Scott Lee, was born near Hamill, South Dakota on August 16, 1914.

His family moved back to Iowa about 1917. He attended public school at Valley Junction (West Des Moines), Stuart, Belmond and Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1933. During his high school years and after graduation he was employed on the farm.

During World War II, Thomas served his country for 46 months in the Army in a tank unit. His Company served in the European Theatre of Operation. He received his discharge at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on October 21, 1945 holding the rank of staff sergeant.

After returning from the service he made his home with his mother until she passed away in 1972.

Thomas had a great love for sports, the outdoors and farming. He has been engaged in farming in partnership with his brother, Charles and Charles’ wife Betty, for 36 years.

Thomas was deeply loyal to all his family and especially enjoyed the occasions when they could be together.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pearl Albery.

Surviving him are his sister Vera and brother-in-law Justin Blomquist, his brother Charles and sister-in-law Betty, his brother-in-law Wallace Albery of Denver, Colorado, three nieces and their families, a nephew, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, October 3, 1982 at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Organ music was provided by Robert Lawson. Pallbearers were Ronnie Paullin, Robert Wells, Marvelle Feller, Richard Wells, Kenneth Gebbie and Mervin Wells. Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.
