Funeral services were held Monday morning from the All Saints church for Leota Lyddon, 65, who passed away June 29. Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.

Most of her life had been spent on farms near Dexter except for several years when she taught school in Audubon county.

Mrs. Lyddon is survived by her brother, George Conway of Stuart, two nieces, Patricia and Beverly Conway of Des Moines and one nephew, William Conway, stationed in Berlin, Germany with the armed forces.

Leota Conway Lyddon was born Dec. 3, 1891 on a farm southeast of Audubon, Iowa, the oldest child of William and Margaret Conway. She died Saturday, June 29, 1957 at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 27 days.

At the age of 16 years she moved with her parents and brother, George, to a farm south of Dexter, which continued to be the family homestead until the present day.

She graduated from Dexter High school in 1910 and attended Drake University. Later she taught school in Audubon county.

In 1916 she married Roy Lyddon and they made their home near Dexter. Her husband died in February, 1920 and Leota returned to teaching in Audubon and made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Will Geombel.

Later she returned to her parents home to make her home.

She remained there for some 20 years, later taking care of her father and mother during their illnesses that preceded their deaths.

In April 1956, she began taking care of Mrs. Sherm Switzer during her illness and remained in that household after Mrs. Switzer’s death and kept house for her son, Harry.

She is survived by her brother, George and wife of Stuart; two nieces, Patricia and Beverly of Des Moines, one nephew, William stationed in Berlin, Germany with the Armed Forces.

Leota was a home-loving person and always wiling to lend a helping hand to her friends and loved ones.

Requiem Mass was celebrated Monday, July 1 at All Saints Church with Father O’Donnell officiating. Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Harry Switzer, Howard Marsh, Ray Cook, Frank Sherman, John Nevins and Jim McEvoy.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Augusta Geombel of Audubon; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Repass of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Repass of Nodaway; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lyddon, Mr. and Mrs. James Vlieger, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Waltz of Winterset; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lyddon and daughter of Adair; and Mrs. A. E. Wines and Mrs. Joe Stangl and daughters of Des Moines.
