Luther Alexander was born Nov. 10, 1849 at Greencastle, Penn., and after a short illness passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 25th, 1928 at the age of 79 years. He was united in marriage to Jeannette Duff Dec. 30, 1896 in Dexter, Iowa. They lived for a number of years in Earlham, Iowa; then moved to Dexter and later came to Stuart, where they have made their home ever since.

Mr. Alexander was for many years an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Earlham, and for a long period served the church as an elder and in various other ways. He was also a great and influential leader in community welfare.

The deceased is survived by his wife, a son, Ernest of Des Moines, four nieces and nephews, and has a great many friends who will mourn his loss. In his later years owing to his defective hearing and poor health, Mr. Alexander was unable to attend church but he was a constant reader of the Bible and of books interpreting the Bible.

The funeral services were held at Mr. Buckleys’ Undertaking Parlors conducted by Rev. Alex E. Cutler; interment was made in the Dexter cemetery.
