Page 3, Column 1Dexter—A funeral for Gerald Raymond Heckman was held Nov. 2, 1994 at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter. He died Oct. 30 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
The son of Carl and Retta (Huff) Heckman, he was born April 28, 1907 in Audubon County near Exira. On Aug. 12, 1931 he married Leona Shaefer at Greenfield. His lifetime occupation was farming in Cass and Adair Counties. He moved to the Dexter area in 1938.
Preceding him in death are his parents; an infant brother Floyd; brothers Leroy, Glenn and Ralph; and a great-grandson Benjamin Shelley.
Surviving are his wife Leona; daughters Dorothy Kopaska of Dexter and Vera Shelley of Menlo; sons Errol of Dexter and Glenn of Peru; a sister Elsie Stippich of Winterset; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
