Keith L. Haynes, 64, of Van Meter, died of lung cancer Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at home.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 6, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter with burial at Dexter Cemetery.

Keith Haynes was born March 26, 1938, in Dexter, the son of Milton Earl “Mike” Haynes and Mable Louise (Dwinell) Haynes. In January, 1960, he married Portia Haas in Denison.

He had lived in Dexter, Earlham, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Collins before moving to Van Meter 1 ˝ years ago. He was a retired welder with 3E of Des Moines, an Army and Air Force Veteran, and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by five sons, Bill of Olympia, Wash., Noel of Redbank, Tenn., Cameron of Hixson, Tenn., Brent of Van Meter, and Kollin of Elizabethtown, Pa.; three daughters, Rise Drake of DeSoto, Lerynne West of Dexter, and Gillian Gillespie of Van Meter; a brother, Kenny of Dexter; a sister, Donna Moro of Waukee, 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
