Arthur Irwin, 90, of Adel, died of cancer Monday, April 24, 2000 at Kavanagh House in West Des Moines. Services were held April 27 at Fisher Funeral Home in Adel. A private burial of the cremains will be held later at the Dexter Cemetery.

Arthur Irwin was born in Orange, Mass. and had lived most of his life in the Adel area. He retired from the Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Adel VFW and the American Legion. His hobbies were fishing and hunting.

He is survived by four sons, Gerry of Adel, Darrell of Gillette, Wy., Bill of Oak Grove, Minn., and John of Adel; three daughters, Sherryl Rafferie of Athens, Ga., Jennie Spring of Des Moines, and Eva Cook of Adel, 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
