Dexter—A funeral for Della Louise Gowdey, 82, of Dexter was held May 23, 1988 at the United Methodist Church here. Miss Gowdey died of a hart ailment on May 20 at her home. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.

The daughter of John Russell and Emily Ann Gowdey, she was born in Guthrie County on Aug. 30, 1905. She was a graduate of Dexter High School and Des Moines University and was a retired school teacher and coach. She also had been a Girl Scout leader for many years, and was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, san in the church choir and held many offices.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Survivors include a sister, Vera Stiles of Dexter, and a brother, Gale Gowdey of Lime Springs.
