Dexter—Nellie O. Cooper 94, of Dexter, died of pulmonary edema Oct. 20, 1995 at Stuart Community Care Center. Services were held Oct. 23 at Dexter United Methodist Church with interment in Dexter Cemetery.

Mrs. Cooper was born on Dec. 11, 1900 in Lower Clear Creek Township in Jasper County to Commodore Perry and Sarah M. Bucklin Miller. She moved to Des Moines and worked as a nutritionist for Iowa Methodist Hospital until Aug 13, 1936, when she married Clarence Cooper at Elkpoint, S.D. The family farmed on locations south of Stuart and Dexter for many years, retiring to a home in Dexter. She belonged to the Dexter United Methodist Church and the Methodist women’s organizations.

Mrs. Cooper entered the care center in May of 1994 and is survived by 20 nieces and nephews among them Dale and Keith Brandenburg who she and her husband raised. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Robert, Carrie Swalwell, Mary Warner, Jessie Swalwell, Andy, Eddie, Lilly and Perry.
