Belva Scott, 78, of Dexter, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services were held Thursday, Nov. 18, at Dexter United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Dexter Cemetery.

Belva Uvonne Draman was born near Stuart, in Adair County, on Sept. 7, 1926, the daughter of Clarence A. and Clara B. (Skellenger) Draman.

She graduated from Stuart High School in 1944. On June 14, 1948, she married Donald E. Scott at the Dexter United Methodist Church. She lived in Dexter for most of her life and this was where she resided at the time of her death.

She worked many jobs over the years, from doctor’s offices to care center dietitian. Her all-time favorite job was working the last several years close to her son at the Redfield Locker. She retired in January of 2004.

The favorite thing in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, flower gardening and going to football games. She was a member of Dexter United Methodist Church, where she served on the administrative board and was active in the Mary Circle group.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers, Fred and Wayne Draman; and her sister, Daisy Christensen.

She is survived by her children, Roscoe Don Scott of Redfield and Rhonda Diane Kuster of Dexter; and five grandchildren.

Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.
