Helen Henrietta (Piper) Clausen, 92, of Dexter, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Des Moines.

Services were held Friday, Nov. 19, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter.

Helen Clausen was born March 3, 1912 in Dexter, the daughter of John and Ella (Meister) Piper. She was a 1930 graduate of Dexter Public school and attended the University of Iowa for one year. During the summer of 1931, she began working at Drew’s Candy Shop in Dexter.

On March 3, she married Paul Clausen at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. After eight years on a farm, they moved back to Dexter and she resumed working at Drew’s.

She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and serviced as the organist for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; an infant son, Evan Antone, and a brother.

Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter was in charge of arrangements.
