Dexter—A funeral for Ira Cox, 97, of Indianola and formerly of Dexter was held May 23, 1987 at McKee Funeral Home at Dexter. Mr. Cox died of a heart attack on May 20 at Indianola. Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.

The son of E.J. and Amanda Cox, he was born Nov. 18, 1889 at Swan. He married Hannah Blohm of Dexter on July 22, 1915.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a son.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah; a son, George of Des Moines; and two daughters, Christine of Council Bluffs and Romona of Elma.
