Dexter—Ray A. Gardner, 58, Memphis, Tenn., and formerly of Dexter, died March 17, 1997, in Memphis, Tenn., from heart failure.

Services were March 20, at Dexter United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Sides officiating. Military services and interment were held in Dexter Cemetery. Kuhn Funeral Homes in Dexter was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Gardner; sons, Robert Gardner, Randy Gardner, and Ronald Gardner; a daughter Rita Hallum, all of Memphis, Tenn.; sister JoAnn Gardner, Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren.

Ray A. Gardner was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Dexter. He married Patricia Hannah while he was stationed in Memphis, Tenn., with the U.S. Navy. The couple made a home in Memphis. He was a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer. He was also a former employee of Leaf Inc., and a maintenance worker at KM Logistics in Memphis, Tenn.

He was a member of the Tyrrell Masonic Lodge #116 in Waverly.
