Dexter—A funeral for Charles Wayne Downing, 60, of Dexter was held Dec. 9, 1985 at the United Methodist Church here. Mr. Downing died of a heart attack Dec. 5 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at Des Moines.

Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.

Mr. Downing was born June 4, 1925 in Parnell, Mo., and lived in Earlham and Dexter most of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator for Martin Marietta Co. at Earlham.

He is survived by a son, Antone (Tony) of Hiawatha; two sisters, Ines Steinmen and Vera Force, both of Parnell; and two brothers, Virgil of Council Bluffs and Dale of Maryville, Mo.
