Robert Preston Weesner, 72, of Dexter, died of cancer Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Adel Acres Care Center in Adel.

Services were held Monday, Feb. 10, at Dexter Methodist Church in Dexter, of which he was a member.

Robert Weesner was born in Stuart on Sept. 13, 1930, the son of Rolland and Lula Sanborn Weesner. He married Marjorie McKenzie on Oct. 19, 1952, in Baxter. He had lived in Dexter most of his life. He owned Weesner Pharmacy in Dexter and was a pharmacist there. He was a member of Adel Masonic Lodge, Winterset Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Des Moines Consistory, Dexter Roundhouse Board and the Dexter Museum Board. His family farm was the site of the National Plowing Contest in 1948 that was attended by President Harry Truman.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, June Janssen of Dexter and JoEllen Czuhajewski of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, Jack of Waukee; and four grandchildren.

Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter was in charge of arrangements.
