Lee Palmer of DeSoto and William Palmer from west of DeSoto drove to Dexter Thursday and attended the funeral services for Lee Palmer’s nephew by marriage, Clifton Daulton, 57, held at the Methodist Church at 2 p.m.

The minister who officiated was Rev. Robert Williams. Soloist was Mrs. Ruth Sellers with Mrs. Eleanor Chapler accompanist on the organ.

The casket bearers were Russell Horn, Howard Christianson, Chris Chapler, Ned Drake, Fred Morford, Sr., and Dale Lielse.

Assisting with the flowers were Mrs. Harry Brown and Mrs. John Hadley.

Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery.

Clifton T. Daulton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tilden Daulton, was born July 25, 1902, and passed away March 28 when he was killed at a railroad crossing at Dexter when the pickup truck he was driving was struck by an east bound Rock Island passenger train that went through Dexter between 12 and 1 p.m.

He was engaged in farming near Dexter.

He is survived by his wife, who is the former Eva Paullin, his father Tilden Daulton, a sister, Mrs. Mildred Sandahl of Des Moines and two brothers, Lawrence and Roy, other relatives and a host of friends.

His mother, the late May Daulton, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Chestnutwood, who passed away a number of years ago.

The Jake Chestnutwood family lived for a long time on a farm between DeSoto and Adel.
