Mary Magdalyn, daughter of Johann Jakob and Anna Margaretha (Meeder) Wahe, was born April 3. 1890 at Junita, Nebraska near Hastings. She passed to her eternal rest September 18, 1987 at the Guthrie County Memorial Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

When she was a young girl, the family moved to the Audubon County area in Iowa where she grew up and attended schools there and in Adair Couty.

On March 28, 1907, Clabe Bernard Ruth and Mary Magdalyn Wahe were united in marriage at Atlantic, Iowa by the Lutheran Pastor Baum. The young couple were accompanied by the bride’s father, traveling by horse and buggy to Adair where they all boarded the train for Atlantic. The young couple ate their wedding dinner at the hotel close to the depot, where they returned on their 50th wedding anniversary to spend the night.

They farmed in Adair County. In their later years they moved to a small 13 acre farm near Menlo, where they resided until they moved to Stuart and retired.

Mary was the mother of seven sons, Arnold, Kenneth, Richard, Clifford, Robert, Dallas and Marion.

Mary joined St. John’s Lutheran Church at Casey, Iowa on July 5, 1942 and later transferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, Iowa.

During the Depression years, the family unit played for dances and other social activities to help support the family. She was a homemaker, working with her husband on the farm. She especially enjoyed and remembered all the members of her far flung family as well as the members of the families of other relatives and her many friends to her dying day.

Preceding her in death were her husband Clabe and her sons Arnold, Richard, Clifford, Dallas and Marion; five brothers, John, Peter, Fred, her twin Charlie and Bill; five sisters Katherine Reimers, Maggie Kinney, Anna Newman, Minnie Kinney and Sophia Reha.

Surviving are her sons, Kenneth J. of Greenfield, and Robert L. of Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado; her sisters, Mrs. Christina Parrott of Greenfield and Mrs. Clara Parrott of Anita; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild, other relatives and friends.

Burial was made in the South Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, Iowa.
