Phillip L. Cross, 83, of Des Moines died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at home.
A memorial service is planned at noon Saturday at Central Community Free Methodist Church in Urbandale. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the memorial service Saturday at the church.

Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines is assiting(err) with the arrangements.
Mr. Cross was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Fairfield, the son of Walter and Carmen Cross. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Harrison, 60 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harold Cross and wife Kimberly of Des Moines and David Cross and wife Colony of Des Moines; four siblings, Charles "Bud" Cross of Grand Junction, Colorado, Carol Wells of Monroe, Wisconsin, Francis "Dolly" McIntire of Fairfield and Connie Harris of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
