Lillian Fletcher dies at 88

Lillian Fletcher, 88, resident of Parkview Care Center, died at 1:33 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been a patient the past two days. She had been a resident at the care center since January, 1980.

Following cremation graveside services will be in Gooding, Idaho, where she made her home before moving to Fairfield. Local arrangements are in charge of the Raymond Funeral Home.

Lillian Fletcher was born Feb. 2, 1896, in Perry. She was the daughter of Fred A. and Christine Swanson Filean. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1918 where she was affiliated with the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She owned and operated the Mad Hatter Tea Room in Iowa City from 1920 until 1938.

Her marriage to Ralph B. Fletcher took place July 31, 1939, in Des Moines. They lived their entire married life of 40 years in Gooding, Idaho. She maintained her home there until moving to Fairfield in April, 1979.

Survivors include a niece, Dorothy Zimmerman, Fairfield, and two nephews Paul Filean, West Des Moines and Arthur Filean, Des Moines.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
