John E. Clausen was born the son of Jim and Vivian Clausen in Dexter, Iowa on April 16, 1958 and died at the Clausen family farm on May 12, 2011 at the age of 53 years and 26 days.

John graduated from Earlham High School in 1976. He then attended and graduated from Northwest Missouri State with a business degree. John and Cynthia Zech were married in St. Gregory’s Church in Maryville, Missouri on July 25, 1981. This union was blessed with 4 sons: Eric, Jeff, Josh and Adam.

John grew up on a farm and always loved spending time there helping out when he could. He was very involved with numerous sporting activities. He played football, basketball, baseball. When his sons became old enough he coached many of their teams. He was always in attendance at the boys games and was their biggest fan. John enjoyed Sprint Car Racing and travelled to Knoxville so he and his brother Joe could watch the races.

John was currently employed with Expeditors International of Kansas City, Missouri.

John is survived by his wife Cindy of Kansas City, Missouri; sons Eric, Jeff, Josh and Adam Clausen of Kansas City, Missouri; parents Jim and Vivian Clausen of Dexter; sister Cindy Clausen of Earlham; brother Dan Clausen and wife Adrianna of Salem, Oregon; brother Joe Clausen of Knoxville; mother and father-in-law John and Shirley Zech of Maryville, Missouri, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

John E. Clausen, age 53 formerly of Dexter, Iowa died at his parents home near Dexter, Iowa on May 12, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday May 18, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with burial in the Old Dexter Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday May 17, 2011 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. John was currently employed with Expeditors International in Kansas City, Mo. He is survived by his wife Cindy of Kansas City; sons Eric, Jeff, Josh and Adam of Kansas City; parents Jim and Vivian Clausen of Dexter; sister Cindy Clausen of Earlham, brother Dan Clausen and wife Adrianna of Salem, OR; brother Joe Clausen from Knoxville; mother and father-in-law John and Shirley Zech of Maryville, MO.
