Stroke Fatal To B. F. Simpson

B. F. Simpson, who suffered a stroke Tuesday, died at his home north of Earlham, Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Simpson was in the Moreland Oil Station about 1:00 p.m. Tuesday when he suffered the stroke. Assistance was called and he was taken home in the ambulance. He never regained consciousness.

Funeral services for Ben Simpson who passed away last Wednesday afternoon, were held Sunday afternoon at the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren about ten miles northwest of Adel. Services were conducted by Rev. T. U. Reed and musical numbers were rendered by a male quartet composed of Paul Wagoner, Claude Wagoner, Raymond Pollock and Rev. Paul Miller.

The following obituary was read at the services:

Benjamin F. Simpson, son of Elias and Louise Simpson, was born at Monroe, Iowa, in Marion county, October 30, 1873 and passed away March 7, 1945 at the age of 71 years, four months and seven days.

His early life was spent in the Marion county vicinity until 1915 when he came to Dallas county. He chose farming as an occupation which followed as his life’s work until about seven years ago when he moved to the Earlham neighborhood. He was united in marriage to Hattie Spring on December 25, 1897.

He confessed his faith when a young man at the Methodist church in Ridgeway, Missouri.

His father, mother and two brothers preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife, Hattie, and their two sons and two daughters—Rolla of Des Moines; Elmer of Redfield; Mary Clifton of Bouton and Marguerite Buckles of Dallas Center. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Also left to mourn his passing are his two sisters and two brothers—Elsie Badger of Bagley; Ora Cory of Elkhart; Jim of Perry; and Carrie of Dallas Center. There are many more distant relatives and a great number of friends.
