Pg 1

Hugh Roddan, Earlham barber of many years ago, died Tuesday at the Iowa Hospital for the Insane at Clarinda, after a lingering illness. Mr. Roddan was taken to the state hospital about eighteen months ago after being pronounced hopelessly demented. His guardian Walter Price was a caller upon him in August and found his mind so hopelessly gone that he did not recognize his old friend. The body was brought to Earlham Wednesday and taken from here to Dexter for funeral services at the Methodist church at two o’clock in the afternoon. Interment was in Dexter cemetery.

Mr. Roddan engaged in business at Perry during the last years of his residence there, going there from Dexter, where he worked for many years. He was sixty-two years old when death summoned him. Relatives called here to Dexter by the funeral were two brothers from Perry, two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Howe and Mrs. Lottie Brubaker, of Atlantic, and two sisters Mrs. Ethel Lightner and Mrs. Helen ------- from Des Moines.
