Simeon Randall, fifth child of Alexander and Hannah Newman Randall was born in the vicinity of Rome, Ohio, September 2, 1844 and passed away into the other life January 5, 1929 at his home near Earlham, Iowa, his age being 84 years, 4 months and 3 days.

He came with his parents to Illinois in 1854, being 10 years of age, and from Illinois to De Soto, Iowa, in 1885, and later to his farm near Earlham, where he lived until the time of his death.

Mr. Randall was united to Mary Randall, October 29, 1875. To this union one daughter was born, who died in infancy. His wife predeceased him August 25, 1876.

Some years later he was married to Miss Esther Lewis, April 23, 1880, and to this union there were born four children, three sons and one daughter. His second wife predeceased him June 16, 1901. His children are: Arthur L., Elsie A., and Ollie L. in the old home near Earlham, and Homer G., Ogden, Iowa. Besides these who are left to mourn the loss of a good father, there is also one brother William W., of Fulton, Ill. and two grandchildren Marie and Wilbur, of Ogden and a number of relatives and friends.

Mr. Randall was born of good parentage, his father being a preacher in the Church of Christ, and was always interested in the affairs of the Kingdom of God.

Simeon Randall was always honest and upright in business. He was a good neighbor and friend. He was one of the successful pioneers. Religiously he never identified himself with any religious body, but he was always a believer in God and the higher good.

During the latter years of his life he suffered a great deal of bodily pain, but in all of his suffering he was patient and considerate of the welfare of others. As a father and friend in the community he will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the home by Rev. A. N. Simpson. Interment was at De Soto.
