Milly Campbell, the daughter of George and Caroline Campbell was born near Salem, Henry County, Iowa on the 19th day of December 1846. Here she spent her early life and united in marriage with Joseph Hightower on the 11th day of December 1862. Four girls and three boys came to bless this union. Two girls and the three boys survive, Rosetta died in infancy, Jennie Young of Grettinger, Iowa, died March 14, 1926. The surviving children are: Laura McKibben, of Breakenridge, Minn., Effie Walker of Des Moines; John L. of Indianapolis, Ind; George of Des Moines, and Carl of Moorhead, Iowa.

In 18-- the family moved to Dallas County, where they resided for a number of years when failing health caused them to move to Des Moines in order to be near the children.

Joseph Hightower passed away November 27, 1923. Since that time Mrs. Hightower lived with her daughter Effie Walker, 2500 Ingersoll Ave. until her death, October 10, 1928. Mrs. Hightower’s life was a long life of true Christian devotion, the welfare of others was always uppermost in her mind. Her beautiful character and noble example in the minds of her many friends and relatives.
