Waneta Faler-Newton, 71, of Village Manor in Altoona died of cancer Thursday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Berwick Cemetery.

Mrs. Faler-Newton was born in Otley and had lived in Norwoodville before moving to Altoona, where she had lived most of her life. She was a retired administrative clerk. She enjoyed attending antique shows.

Surviving are her husband, William; two daughters, Janet Carlson of Altoona and Teari Newton-Jarrett of Des Moines; two sons, David of Clive and Dirk of Des Moines; a brother, Everett Faler of Adel; a sister, Bonnie Kouski of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Courageous in Monticello. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa Mon 21 Feb 2000.
