Obituary

Neal Evert, 76, passed from this life on Monday, August 20, 2012, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Private inurnment of the cremated remains will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter at a later date.

Neal was born on March 21, 1936, in Concordia, Missouri, to Walter and Lillie (Graf) Evert. He was a graduate of Concordia High School and served in the U.S. Marines Corps.

Neal married Linda Anne Milani on December 15, 1979, in Newton and they made their home in Urbandale. He was last employed with Wells Fargo for 10 years, retiring in 2002.

Neal was a member of Newton Kiwanis Club and Past President of the Altoona Rotary Club. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family.He is will be missed by his wife, Linda; son, Dr. Timothy (Kelly) Evert of Cumming; two step-sons, John C. (Kelly) Todavich of Pensacola, FL and Todd Todavich of Grimes; his grandchildren, Chloe and Brynn Evert, Nickolas and Christian Todavich, and Jessica and Zachary Todavich; his siblings, James (Florence) Evert of Concordia, MO, Ray (Alice) Evert of Kansas City, MO, and Betty Wright of Odessa, MO.

Neal was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alieen Ziegelbein.Memorial contributions may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society.
