Thomas DeHart was born in Tippecanoe county, Ind., Nov. 21, 1824. He came to Madison county in 1865 and resided here three years when he moved to the farm in Dallas county where he died on April 22, 1907. August 30, 1865 he was married to Rebecca Gano, who with an only son, A. J., survives. Some twelve years ago the deceased was stricken with paralysis and since that time has been an invalid. He was an honest, upright citizen and greatly respected by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at his late home on Wednesday, April 24, conducted by Rev. Shull. Interment was in the McKibben cemetery.
