Mrs. Blackman Was Early Alton Resident

Mrs. A.P. Blackman of Paullina, for many years a resident of Alton when her husband was N.W. Ry. agent here, passed on at her home May 10th. Funeral services were held Friday with interment at Waukee, Iowa.

Mrs. Blackman had been confined to bed since Christmas with illness. She was 71 years of age, born in Dallas county, Iowa in August, 1862. Mr. Blackman died seven years ago.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wm. A. McCauley (Bernice) residing on a farm eight miles south of Paullina, and Miss Mary Blackman, who has been caring for her mother in her illness; two sons, Dr. J.V. Blackman of Iowa City and Marvin Blackman, patient in a tubercular santarium at Legion, Texas; and by two granddaughters, Phyllis and Virginia Blackman.

She was a member of the Polly Welton chapter of the D.A.R. at Paullina.

Alton friends regret her passing and extend sympathy to the children, who attended the public school here for some years.
