Sisler, Michael 1827-1903
Born January 13, in Washington County, Maryland. Home church: Dallas Center, Iowa. United with German Baptist Brethren Church at Mt. Morris, Illinois, March 1852, came to Panther Church in 1870. Married Barbara Ann Newcomer, December 9, 1847. Children: Otho, David, Alma Jane (Scott), Ida. Farmer; minister 1857; ordained to eldership, 1865; elder at Dallas Center, 1876-1897; charter member of Dallas Center Church and first elder; churches served: Mt. Morris, Illinois and Dallas Center, Iowa in free ministry; committee about the office of county auditor, 1876; moderator of District Meeting, 1877, 1882, 1884; Standing Committee delegate, 1879, 1882, 1884; delegate to District Meeting, 7 times; member of committee for Orphans' and Invalids' homes and planning for Old Folks' home at Marshalltown; el der at Panther Church since 1875 for many years; ability and wisdom highly regarded; service to Harlan Church, 19 years. Died June 13.
